It's been a long time coming. After countless hours frustratingly modeling and printing the perfect fitting components, I'm proud to say that I've reach this major milestone. Numi v4 is now ready for coding and testing. Everyone thinks that coding an AI coin sorter is the hardest part, but it's actually the 3D modeling and engineering. Soooo many failed 3D prints I've had to chuck out.
A coin that gets stuck in the funnel because it fell in a weird way only 1% of the time? Redesign & print.
A flipper that only consistently works for nickels but not quarters? Redesign & print.
Losing your mind because the mechanism holding the motor is off by 1 cm and makes the system a little shaky? Doesn't matter, fix it because the sorter HAS to be reliable.
So many countless nights drifting off to sleep thinking about 3D modeling. This certainly won't be Numi's final form. Far from it. But 90% of the work is done. Now it gets to the fun part of coding and tweaking that only takes seconds to test and retry, rather than hours between each reprint 😄Thanks again for joining me on this journey. We've come a far ways from the Legos haven't we? I'm excited for what's next. I've learned to stop giving dates when I think I'll be done, so the next update will be ready when it's ready 🙂
